Dimensional weight
DIM weight without a hidden carrier default.
Use the package's external dimensions and the divisor that applies to the carrier, service, contract or workflow you are evaluating. Packmetry keeps DIM weight separate from physical packing geometry and actual gross weight.
Calculator
Calculate dimensional weight
Enter the package's external dimensions and the divisor supplied by the carrier, service, contract or workflow you are evaluating.
How it works
External volume divided by your divisor.
Packmetry converts the external package dimensions into the divisor's length unit, multiplies length × width × height, divides by the explicit divisor, then converts the result into the selected mass unit.
Important boundary
DIM weight is not a shipping quote.
This tool does not apply carrier billing rounding, service-specific minimums, zones, surcharges, negotiated rates or live shipping prices. For the reasoning behind that boundary, read the dimensional-weight guide.
Why external dimensions
DIM weight describes the outside package.
Internal dimensions answer whether items can fit inside a carton. Dimensional weight describes the package's outside volume, so Packmetry does not silently substitute internal dimensions.
Use it in a packing plan
Compare DIM behavior across verified plans.
The Business workspace can use explicit DIM settings and external carton dimensions while ranking verified packing candidates.
