Carton volume analysis
See how much of the box's space your items require.
Calculate a volume-only utilization estimate for identical rectangular items against one carton's internal dimensions. This does not generate or verify a packing arrangement.
Calculator
Calculate carton volume utilization
Compare the volume of identical rectangular items with one carton's internal volume. This is a volume calculation, not a geometric packing test.
How it works
Volume used ÷ internal carton volume.
Packmetry multiplies each item's length, width and height, multiplies that volume by the item quantity, and divides by internal carton volume. Unallocated volume is carton volume minus requested item volume when the difference is nonnegative. Results use canonical unit conversions rather than mixing units.
Worked example
Six small items in a larger carton.
A 30 × 20 × 10 cm carton has 6,000 cm³ of internal volume. Six items measuring 10 × 10 × 5 cm each request 3,000 cm³. That gives 50% volume utilizationand 3,000 cm³ of unallocated volume. These numbers do not establish that all six items can be placed without overlap.
Important boundary
Enough volume does not guarantee a fit.
Items with a combined volume below 100% can still fail to fit because of their dimensions, orientations or other constraints. If requested item volume exceeds 100%, all the items cannot fit within that carton. This calculator does not check rotations, positions, padding, spacing or stackability.
Canonical results
Verified utilization is a different result.
The packing methodology explains how Packmetry measures actual utilization from independently verified placements. This standalone calculator instead estimates requested volume before a packing plan exists.
